Exit Delay and Auto Arm - When you start Patrol the motion detection will be turned on after about a 1 minute delay, to enable you to leave the protected area.

Play Sound - A message will be played when motion is detected.

Email - when in alarm images will be sent to the programmed email addresses.

Auto Start Server - Patrol Engine will start when the program is run.

Email Settings...

When motion is detected and the correct alarm options have been set, the built-in email engine will automatically email images to the programmed email address. Clicking the manual email button on the main video screen will use the same settings.

SMTP Server - This is the name of the SMTP mail server. It should be set to the same settings as your email program (Outlook etc) or to the setting given to you by your Internet Service Provider (ISP).

Email From - This should be your email address, an incorrect address will not work!

Email To - Images will be sent to this address.

CC To - Copy emails will be sent to this address.

FTP Upload to Website Settings...

When motion is detected and the correct alarm options have been set, the built-in FTP engine will automatically upload web pages and images to the web space provided by your Internet Service Provider (ISP) - including free web space offered by some ISP's.

The FTP details you require for correct setup will be provided by your ISP, take a look at their help pages.

WARNING - the FTP engine will upload a number of pages including a page named index.html this will overwrite any other web pages.

You should configure the upload to a 'directory' option to avoid your web site being over written by Patrol.

The directory you are uploading to should have been created already - Patrol FTP will fail if the directory you specify does not exist.

Host Name - This is the FTP server web space where your site will be loaded. Refer to your ISP for details.

Directory - Location of uploaded files. enter directory details like this... /mysite/uploads  ...you can choose the name of the directories - they must already be on the server!

User Name - Name or Account identification required by ISP.

FTP Password - Password to access your upload web space.

Web Access Password - This will be the password required to access the images from a web browser. A Web Password must be set for the FTP to work!

When you have entered all the details you can click the 'Test Monitor' Button to activate an attempt to upload a test index.html page to the server with your settings.

Using FTP...

When motion has been detected and FTP is enabled you can access the latest alarm images.

To access the images uploaded you will need a standard web browser or use our Vision Explorer Software.

In the address bar of your browser enter the address of you web pages complete with directory, for example...

http://www.visionpatrol.com/ftpsample

You can click the link above to see a sample page.

You will be asked for a User Name and a Password to access the images.

The User Name can be left blank but the Password is required.

Enter the password you used for 'Web Access Password' in the settings.

(In the sample above the password is 'demo').

Web Server Settings...

To Access images from the camera or use X10 remote control features you can use the built-in web server.

With the web server you can use a standard web browser across a LAN or the Internet.

Server Port - This should be set to 80, only change if conflict occurs with another program already using port 80. Stop and restart Patrol for changes to take effect.

User Name - Required for security when connecting to Patrol Server.

Password - Required for security when connecting to Patrol Server.

LAN Network IP address shown to help you connect remotely.

What's My Internet IP Address, opens a website which displays your internet IP.

To Access the server on a LAN you can use an internet browser.

Enter the network address into the Address Bar of the web browser, like this...

http://192.168.0.2:80/index.html  the :80 at the end is the port number.

The 'index.html' is the name of the home page of the web server, if you fail to enter the name of the page you may get a message saying file not found.

To Access the server from the internet the computer running Patrol must be connected to the internet via an always on connection such as ADSL Broadband or ISDN.

From the web browser enter the internet IP Address like this.... http://62.249.233.174:80/index.html

When connecting you will see a dialog box requesting the user name and password, once entered correctly you will be able to access the server.

If you are using a router for your internet / LAN connections you will need to set up 'port redirection' or 'port forwarding', 'filtering' etc., for the connection request to be forwarded to the computer running Patrol. Refer to your Routers instructions for details.

LIVE Camera View from a web browser...

There is an outstanding new feature built in to the web server... 'Live Camera View'

This enables you to view images in real-time from the camera with just a web browser across a LAN or the internet. In order to use this feature you must edit the html code in a special web page found in the 'Web' subfolder on your hard disk...  C:\Program Files\Vision\Vision Patrol\Web  The web page you need to edit is called 'live.html'. Open this folder using an 'HTML editor' or 'windows notepad'.

Once opened you should see the html code, scroll down until you see the following section of code...

(The html code shown below in gray is only for your information, the actual code to modify is the line colored red.

The IP address and port number which you can change is shown in bold black font.

<!-- EDIT THE IP ADDRESS BELOW FOR YOUR INTERNET IP ADDRESS. Do NOT change anything but the IP Address -->
<!-- The IP is currently set to 62.249.233.174 and the port is :80. -->
<!-- To TEST the IP address on the same computer as Vision Patrol change the IP to look like this 127.0.0.1 -->
<!-- This is how the edited line will look.... <img src="http://127.0.0.1/webimage.jpg" alt="Patrol Camera Live Image Loading..." id="imgToLoad" onload="setTimeout(&quot;reloadImg()&quot;, 100)" >-->

<!-- The next line below is the one you edit with your IP ADDRESS -->

<img src="http://62.249.233.174:80/webimage.jpg" alt="Patrol Camera Live Image Loading..." id="imgToLoad" onload="setTimeout(&quot;reloadImg()&quot;, 100)" >

<!-- Once edited with your IP Address save the html file as 'live.html' -->
<!-- EDIT THE IP ADDRESS ABOVE FOR YOUR INTERNET IP ADDRESS -->

As you can see above the current IP address is 62.249.233.174 and the port is 80.

You need to replace the current IP with your own Internet IP Address and the port which Patrol's web server is using.

Do not change any of the text colored red because it will cause an error on the web page.

When you have changed the IP address save the file as...   'live.html'.

(If using notepad, make sure you use 'Save As'  and select 'Save Type' as 'all files' and the 'save file name' as  live.html)

For more information on using the web server refer to the user guide.
